The objectives of the contents of the educational and training programs of the Institute are clearly described in every course outline. They specifically spell out what the student is expected to achieve upon completion of the programs. The achievements are measured in term of the cognitive psychomotor skills acquired.
Thus in most of the programs, students must take theoretical tests, practical and examination.

The objective of the Tanzania Institute of Rail Technology is to cater for training of its operational cadres of the company requirements.
However, the target population is on individuals who have gone through normal education system of Tanzania and have secondary education.
Though various subjects are offered to their respective discipline, communication skills and computer applications are also focused. The contents entrepreneurship, computation and physical science and outlines of each course appear in the respective syllabi.
